Embracing Santosha: One Day at a Time

Santosha

In the wake of my husband's accident, 'one day at a time' became my mantra. Each day carried the weight of the unknown—whether he would make it through, if I could remain composed in this turmoil, and if my children were coping. My world condensed to the present, where external matters faded. Mornings began at 4 am and ended around 2 am, my entire focus devoted to ensuring that particular day would be alright.

Embracing the day as it unfolds became my anchor. In the realm of yoga, we speak of Santosha—finding contentment in the face of what arises, accepting both the pleasant and the challenging. It's undoubtedly a test.

Seven years have elapsed since my life turned upside down. Today, life has settled into its rightful place, and I've come to believe in Santosha. My yoga practice has been my guiding light, imparting invaluable lessons.

I am grateful for:

  • The path I've chosen,

  • The mentors who've illuminated my way,

  • The community and friendships fostered,

  • The privilege of stepping onto my mat daily, a space where I release, heal, and breathe deeply.

This is a gift I've bestowed upon myself—an opportunity to not just learn but to share and teach these transformative practices to others.

Santosha—contentment.

Every morning, I rise, inhale deeply, and embrace contentment, one day at a time. May you start each day the same way.

Margaret
